What is Invisalign®?

At Wathen Road Dental Practice, we are dedicated to staying ahead in orthodontic treatment, providing you with cutting-edge solutions. Invisalign® offers a contemporary alternative to conventional braces, enabling discreet teeth alignment with clear aligners.

These aligners resemble retainers but are thinner and much more comfortable. Using teeth-colored attachments, Invisalign® gently guides your teeth into the desired position, helping you achieve your dream smile.

How does Invisalign work?

Treatment planning

After a 3D scan, our orthodontist designs your personalized Invisalign plan with technicians. You'll view a video of your treatment before starting.

Treatment:

Receive your first three sets of aligners during the initial fitting. Change aligners every two weeks. Attachments are added in a follow-up appointment.

Refinement:

Following initial treatment, some may require further aligners to perfect their smile. We ensure your satisfaction with additional adjustments if needed.

How Long Does It Take to Finish the Invisalign Treatment?

The timeline for completing Invisalign treatment isn’t fixed, as it hinges on the unique complexities of each individual case. For instance, patients with minor adjustments may find their treatment concluding within a few months, whereas those requiring more extensive corrections might need to wear their aligners for a longer duration.

One reassuring aspect of Invisalign is its immediate efficacy upon wearing. Within a couple of months, patients typically begin to observe noticeable improvements in their smile. We emphasize the importance of consistent aligner wear, suggesting removal only for essential activities like eating and oral hygiene. This adherence is vital because aligners can only exert their corrective influence while actively worn; every moment they’re off extends the treatment duration.

During your initial consultation, our dental team will provide an estimate of your treatment timeline. Through regular check-ups scheduled every four to six weeks, we’ll closely monitor your progress. This monitoring allows us to assess whether you’re advancing as expected and determine the appropriateness of transitioning to the next series of aligners.

Invisalign FAQs

In general, Invisalign is less painful than traditional braces. Some patients may experience temporary discomfort or pressure when starting a new set of aligners, but this typically subsides within a few days.

For optimal results, you should wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing.

It’s recommended to remove your Invisalign aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water to prevent damage or staining.

The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the complexity of your case, but most treatments take about 12 to 18 months on average.

You’ll typically have check-up appointments every 4 to 6 weeks to monitor your progress and receive your next sets of aligners.

Invisalign is suitable for many orthodontic issues, but it may not be appropriate for everyone. A consultation with an Invisalign-trained dentist or orthodontist can determine if Invisalign is right for you.

Invisalign treatment costs can vary depending on the complexity of your case and your location, but in general, it is comparable to the cost of traditional braces.
